JAWS - Inaccessible website controls

Problem

A customer using a commercial website or web app encounters controls (typically date picker controls) that do not speak with JAWS.  

Resolution

It is not uncommon for websites and web apps to still be using custom controls that are not accessible to screen readers even though examples of functionally similar but accessible controls exist.
Typicall the controls that most commonly crop up as innaccessible are controls for date pickers and controls for clothes sizes as common examples.
Where possible one should make contact with the developer to ask them to use an accessible control rather than use a custom controls.  The below list can be used to provide examples of accesible working controls below.
