FS Auth - Update Freedom Scientific ILM product license offline manual activation

Problem

You need to activate a Freedom Scientific BLV product JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion manually offline because you are in an organisation where the internet connection and access rights are controlled.

Resolution

Please have the following to hand before commencing the activation process:

  1. The 20 digit ILM alpha-numeric authorisation number for the installed product.
  2. Access to Administrator level login for the target computer.
  3. Access to Internet connected browser.

Except for product names the activation process is the same for all Freedom Scientific software products JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion. 

Step 1 - Obtaining Activation Locking Code

  1. Log into the computer with Administrator login.
  2. Start the Freedom Scientific product and wait for the activation prompt and click Start Activation or Update Authorisation button when it appears.

  1. Then when you are given the choice select "Manual, by telephone or FSActivate" and click Next.
  2. On the next screen will be displayed a locking code that represents the identity of the computer, store this information in a Notepad document for later along with the 20 digit ILM code.

Step 2 - Obtaining Activation License Code

  1. On a compute with Internet access open a browser to: www.fsactivate.com
  2. Then click the link to Retrieve an activation code based on your authorisation number a locking code.
  3. Then enter the Locking Code and Authorisation number details store earlier and then click Submit button.
  4. On the next screen there will be a long activation license code presented; copy this code into a Notepad document and save this for retrieval later.


Idea
Tip
Store the Activation License Code in a Notepad plain text document.
Turn off word wrap to avoid the code being truncated.




Step 3 - Activating product license

  1. On the machine to be activated ensure you are on the stage of the activation wizard where you can enter the Authorisation Number and Activation License Code details saved earlier.
  2. When all fields are filled click Next button; the wizard should indicate that the activation was successful and you can click Finish to complete activation.
