Adjustment of cutting position for Index Basic V4 acoustic hood

Adjustment of cutting position for Index Basic V4 acoustic hood

Information

The Basic v4 acoustic hood includes a perforation cutter. The embosser needs to be properly set up so that the paper correctly aligns with the cutter.

Steps

  1. Make sure the embosser feet are properly positioned into the corresponding holes with in the shelf, and that when you press FEED, the paper is fed through correctly without catching.
  2. If the paper does catch when fed out of the back of the embosser, remove the embosser from the cabinet, and find the two rear rubber feet on the embosser. Unscrew these feet slightly to raise the rear of the embosser enough - normally about a half-turn.
  3. The firmware on the embosser must be 1.5.3 or higher. To check this, press the HELP button to read aloud the version number amongst other information. If the embosser is earlier than 1.5.3, it will need to be updated. Contact support for assistance with this.
  4. Ensure that the paper size is set correctly in Duxbury and on the embosser itself.
  5. Afterwards, the feed position setting needs to be changed by doing the following:
  6. Press the Menu button, then press the down arrow until you get to System. Press OK.
  7. Press the down arrow until you get to Braille Block Position, then press OK.
  8. Press the down arrow until you get to Feed, then press OK.
  9. This should be set to 80.0mm by default. Press the down arrow twice to get to 86mm.
  10. Press OK to set this, then press Menu to save the setting.
  11. This should now allow the cutter to be used at the end of a printout. At this point, print a test page to ensure it is working. If it is slightly out, it may need a fine adjustment. To do this:
  12. Press the Menu button, then press the down arrow until you get to System. Press OK.
  13. Press the down arrow until you get to Braille Block Position, then press OK.
  14. Press the down arrow until you get to Adjust stand by position, then press OK.
  15. Use the following keys to slightly adjust the value as required, depending on how far out the cut is, and which direction.
    1=0.1 mm
    10=1.0 mm
  16. CHS = change between positive (move backwards) and negative (move forward)
  17. Press OK to set this, then press Menu to save the setting.
