JAWS - Alternative JAWS start-up for problem installations
Problem
JAWS auto-start up settings once set do not appear to work, JAWS does not start after signing into the Windows desktop.
Resolution
This problem is rare but when the workaround is implemented it will cause JAWS to start very slightly later than it would using the regular method. Users should be advised to be patient just after sign in for JAWS to start.
- Open JAWS window and choose Options > Basics.
- Then choose “Automatically start JAWS” button.
- In the dialogue leave the Start JAWS at the logon screen” but uncheck the options “Start JAWS after logon for all users” and set the drop down to “Never” for “Start JAWS after logon for this user”.
- Then find the desktop icon for the install version/copy of JAWS you wish to have start and copy this to clipboard.
- Then press WINDOWS+R and enter the command below and click “OK” button:
Shell:startup - A new explorer window will pop up, paste the JAWS icon into this location and close the window.
- Then restart to test the new logon scenario with the problem.
