AVG anti-virus – uninstall AVG (Mac OS)

Problem

AVG anti-virus software installed on a Mac and is identified as causing problems on the machine.  the software can be uninstalled to attempt to resolve the problem. 

Detail

One symptom that has been observed is its web filtering capabilities have been known to cause probems with web browsing.

Resolution

  1. Open AVG AntiVirus, then click AVG AntiVirus in the Apple menu bar and select Uninstall AVG AntiVirus.
  2. When the AVG AntiVirus uninstaller window appears, click Continue.
  3. Enter the password that you use when you start your Mac, and click Install Helper.
  4. Wait while the uninstaller removes AVG AntiVirus from your Mac.
  5. If prompted, enter the password that you use when you start your Mac, and click OK.
  6. When the confirmation message appears, click Finish, or optionally click Continue to complete the customer survey.
