Block update to Windows 11

Problem

You wish to block Windows 11 on a home or student PC.

Note

These instructions only apply to domestic computers not used within a managed network or Home versions.

Resolution

  1. Open Regedit and then navigate to the following location:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
  1. Create DWORD 32 bit value TargetReleaseVersion
  2. Edit data and set to = 1
  3. Create string value TargetReleaseVersionInfo
  4. Edit above value and add data for Windows build you wish to remain on eg. 21H1.
