JAWS – Bluetooth headset connection drops whilst using JAWS

Problem

When using a connected Bluetooth headset with JAWS connection to the headset may drop.


Resolution

Bluetooth connection may be lost due to either the Bluetooth adapter or headset going to sleep to conserve battery power; a setting in JAWS can play a silent wave file to keep the connection alive.

  1. Press JAWSKey+F2 and select Settings Centre and press ENTER.
  2. Then press CONTROL+SHIFT+D to open the default configuration.
  3. Then type the word Avoid into the search box and press down arrow to locate the result "Avoid speech cut off when using Bluetooth headphones"
  4. Then press SPACEBAR to toggle the feature on when Bluetooth drops.

    Note
    When using wired connection you experience speech leg try toggling the option off. 


  5. Then press TAB to Apply button and press SPACEBAR on it.
  6. Then press ENTER to dismiss the dialogue.
