BrailleSense 6 – Setting up Google Drive

Problem

A BrailleSense 6 user needs to set up Google Drive access on their BrailleSense 6 or BrailleSense 6 Mini notetaker.

Resolution

The BrailleSense 6 notetaker range supports the use of Google Drive without the need to download any external apps integrating with the built in File Manager application.  In order to use Google Drive you must establish a Wi-Fi connection to access this online service. 


Step 1 - Google Account Setup

The BrailleSense 6 must be set up with a Google Account before proceeding to Google Drive setup.  Please carry out the steps below to complete this task.

  1. Press F1 and navigate to Settings > Android System Settings and press ENTER.
  2. Inn the Search box Accounts or navigate to Accounts and press ENTER.  Or in the main settings list.
  3. Then navigate to Accounts Null Accounts and press ENTER.
  4. Then Press F3 or space-4-5 chord to tab through to Add Account and press ENTER.
  5. Follow the instructions to set up the account.

 

Step 2 - Granting Access to Google Drive

The BrailleSense unit must be granted permissions to use the Google Drive service, proceed using the steps below to carry out this task.  

  1. Press F1 and Open File Menu.
  2. Then select the Google Drive item and press ENTER.
  3. You may then be prompted to choose an account to continue.
  4. Then select your Google account if listed.
  5. On the next screen it will be seeking permissions for your account you can read through or press letter A to move directly to the Allow button and press ENTER..       Then you should be presented with the list containing the Google Drive files.
