Microsoft - Capture version information from any Office app

Problem

A Microsoft Office user is encountering a problem whilst using an office application and is asked by technical support to provide version information.

Resolution

Choose the steps below that best suit your use case.

Using the keyboard

Best for JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion users.
  1. Open any Microsoft Office application.
  2. Press ALT+F to open file menu.
  3. Press down arrow to “Account” or “Office Account”.
  4. Then press TAB until you get to the “About word” button.
  5. Then press TAB until you get to the version number which JAWS should read ou.
  6. Press JAWSKey+spacebar followed letter H and find the version most recently spoken.
  7. Use SHIFT+ARROW keys to highlight all the info and press control+C fo copy to clipboard.
  8. Then press CONTROL+V to paste this information somewhere convenient so you can send it back to Technical Support.
  9. Press ESCAPE key to return to normal operation.

Using the mouse

  1. Double click to open any Microsoft Office application.
  2. Click File > Account or Office Account.
  3. The version information will be display beside the About button.  Please report this to Technical Support.
  4. Click the back arrow to return to normal operation.
