JAWS - Change how numbers are announced
Problem
JAWS by default speaks number as whole numbers with hundreds and thousands spoken. Some users may prefer numbers to be spoken individually, for example telephone numbers.
Applies to
- JAWS
Resolution
- Press JAWSKey+F2 and arrow to “Settings Centre” and press ENTER.
- Then press CONTROL+SHIFT+D for the default configuration.
- Then in the edit box type “number” and arrow down to “number processing”.
- Then press SPACEBAR to toggle to the desired method for speaking numbers:
• Controlled by synthesizer
• Single digits
• Pairs
• Full numbers
- When you have selected the desired number processing style press TAB to reach the “Apply” button and press SPACEBAR.
- Do the same for the “OK” button to dismiss the dialogue.
