Change how JAWS speaks numbers
Problem
JAWS by default speaks number as whole numbers ; thus 1256 will be spoken as 'one-thounsand two-hundred and fixity-six'. This may be particularly troublesome with very large numbers and can be difficult to hear correctly.
Resolution
- Press JAWSKey+F2 and arrow to “Settings Centre” and press ENTER.
- Then press CONTROL+SHIFT+D for the default configuration.
- Then in the edit box type “number” and arrow down to “number processing”.
- Then press SPACEBAR to toggle to the desired method for speaking numbers:
• Controlled by synthesizer
• Single digits
• Pairs
• Full numbers
- When you have selected the desired number processing style press TAB to reach the “Apply” button and press SPACEBAR.
- Do the same for the “OK” button to dismiss the dialogue.
