Check your Mac OS version

Problem:

In order to support troubleshooting the Mac OS version number needs to be obtained and provided to Technical Support.

Resolution:

Note

Due to changes in Mac OS UI a new set of instructions are provided to obtain version info. The old instructions remain for reference.

If major version is unknown

These steps will lead to the information being presented if the major version is not known

  1. Click the Apple Symbol (top left) and click "About this Mac".
  2. A dialogue box will pop up, if you see a version number for Mac OS please report the name and version number to suport.
  3. If the dialogue does not provide the Mac OS version click the More Into button.
  4. In the new window in the MacOS section please report the name and version number to support.

Mac OS Monterey and below

  1. Click the Apple symbol at the top left of your screen on the menu bar.
  2. Then click “About this Mac” on the menu.
  3. A dialogue will be displayed similar to the one shown below. Please provide the operating system name and version number to support.
