FS Install - Create install log for Freedom Scientific products

Problem

When confronted by an installation failure, you wish to create an install log to gather more informmation about the problem for analysis.  


Applies to

• JAWS
• ZoomText
• Fusion


Resolution

  1. Locate the the online or offline installer for the product, then create a folder and place the installer inside the newly created folder. eg: c:\MyFolder\
  2. Then press CONTROL+SHIFT+F10 or SHIFT right-click the installer and select "Copy as path" from the context menu.
  3. Then open the Run command (WINDOWS+R) and enter the command similar to below format:
c:\PathToPackage\PackageName.exe /Log "c:\MyFolder\MySetup.log"
  1. The log file is created in the same location as the installer used, eg. c:\MyFolder\MySetup.log.
    where PackageName.exe is the name of the online or offline installer for the product.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions as normal to complete the installation.
  3. When finished check the contents of the folder specified for the log file for analysis, you can send it back to support@sightandsound.co.uk for analysis.
