JAWS - Customize file display options

Problem

You wish to customize file display options with JAWS or Fusion using the keyboard.


Resolution

Use the steps below depending on the operating system being used.

Windows 11

  1. Press WINDOWS+E to open Windows Explorer.
  2. Press alt to open the ribbon and press right arrow to View and press ENTER.
  3. Press right arrow to move to Options button SPACEBAR and press SPACEBAR again on Change Folder Options.
  4. Then press CONTROL+TAB to reach View tab in the dialogue.
  5. Then press CONTROL+TAB to reach View tab in the dialogue.
    Press TAB twice to reach the settings tree view. In the tree view you can use arrows or first letter navigation to find the option you wish to change and press SPACEBAR to toggle the option on or off as desired:

D – Display full path in title bar
H - Hide File extensions of known file types
L – Launch folders in a separate process
U – Use checkboxes to select items Press letter S repeatedly until you reach the option x and

  1. Press TAB to reach OK and press spacebar.

Windows 10

  1. Press WINDOWS+E to open Windows Explorer.
  2. Press alt to open the ribbon and press right arrow to View and press ENTER.
  3. Press right arrow to move to Options button SPACEBAR and press SPACEBAR again on Change Folder Options.
  4. Then press CONTROL+TAB to reach View tab in the dialogue.
    Press TAB twice to reach the settings tree view. In the tree view you can use arrows or first letter navigation to find the option you wish to change and press SPACEBAR to toggle the option on or off as desired:

D – Display full path in title bar
H - Hide File extensions of known file types
L – Launch folders in a separate process
U – Use checkboxes to select items

  1. When finished setting options press TAB to reach OK and press spacebar.
