JAWS - Disable notification of FSCast episodes
Problem
A customer withes to stop JAWS informing them about Freedom Scientific podcast updates.
Resolution
Use either method below that suits for fixing the problem if you are a user or IT Technician.
Method 1 - Using the JAWS UI
- Press JAWSKey+F2 and select “Settings centre”.
- Press control+shift+D to open the “Default” configuration.
- Then type “FSCast” and down arrow to the entry about notifying of new FSCasts
- Then press SPACEBAR to uncheck.
- TAB to “OK” button and press ENTER.
Method 2 - Editing JAWS configuration file
The following may be particular interest for IT Technicians and other computer Administrators. The setting to display the FSCast dialogue is contained in the JAWS Default.jcf file.

%AppData%\Roaming\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\[Year/version]\Settings\enu
Where [year/version] is placeholder for the JAWS year/version currently installed. For example 2023 or 18.0.
