FS Install - Disable camera features for ZoomText and Fusion products

Problem

An organisation that runs a secure IT infrastructure would like to disable use of the ZoomText/Fusion camera features to mitigate information extraction risks.

Applies to

  1. ZoomText
  2. Fusion

Resolution

Please follow the steps below to make registry adjustments to disable Zoomtext camera features.

  1. Press WINDOWS+R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type regedit and press ENTER.
  3. It’s a good idea to save the current registry settings first by selecting File > Export.
  4. When that is done, open the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Freedom Scientific\ZoomText\2020\Settings
  5. Right-click on Settings and select New > DWORD (32 bit) value.
  6. Type SuppressCCTV and press ENTER.
  7. Right-click on SuppressCCTV and select Modify.
  8. Type 1 to change the value data to one and press ENTER.
  9. Close the Registry Editor.
