ZoomText - Adobe PDF document moves back to first page whilst scrolling

Problem

If a customer has an Adobe Reader PDF document open, when they try to scroll further down the document the view and read revert back to the top document. 

Resolution

Please try each solution below to fix the problem and test again.

Method 1: Change reading settings in Adobe Reader app

  1. Open Adobe Reader and either click Edit > Preferences or use the hotkey CONTROL+K.
  2. Click Reading in the category list.
  3. On the right hand side of the dialogue look for 'Page vs. document' drop down and set this to 'Read entire document'
  4. Then click 'OK' button or press ENTER to dismiss the dialogue.
  5. Then close and restart Adobe Reader to check if the fault is resolved.

When using this solution and opening the document, choose the Cancel button when the document is being analysed and startr using AppReader where you need to read.

Method 2: Remove/Reinstall Adobe PDF support module.

  1. Open Windows Explorer and click on and paste the following into the address bar:
C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\ZoomText\2022


Note
Please adjust the year/version in the above example to accommodate the version of ZoomText installed if it is not 2022.


  1. Then run AhoiUtil.exe in that folder.
  2. Then highlight the PDFSupport module ah_pdfSupport and click Remove button.
  3. Then click Add Module button and select ah_pdfSupport to reinstall the module.
