Dragon – Microphone button does not activate after creating speech profile

Problem

A problem is encountered where the microphone button in the Dragon toolbar cannot be activated.

Resolution

• Check if any specialist dictionaries are installed such as Medincle. Supplementary dictionaries will increase the time Dragon takes to process this information immediately after a speech profile is created.

  1. Remove any old profiles from the machine, these can be found under the Nuance folder in %AppData%
    Right click the Start button and choose Run, then enter the text above to gain access.
  2. If a profile has been created delete it to trigger the enrolment process the next time Dragon starts.
  3. After removing any speech profiles proceed with profile creation as normal.
  4. After enrolment completes leave Dragon running and allow about 30 minutes before attempting to operate the software. Click the microphone button which should turn green indicating that dictation is now available.
