JAWS – Duxbury Braille Translator scripts installation

Problem

A user may wish to install JAWS scripts for Duxbury software.


Applies to

  1. DBT (Windows) 

Resolution

Please use the steps below to install JAWS scripts for DBT software:
  1. Start DBT software, a message offering to install JAWS scripts is posted on screen.
  2. Press TAB key to reach the Yes button and press SPACEBAR on it to install scripts.
  3. If you do not wish to be notified again TAB to the checkbox Do Not Ask This Again, then press SPACEBAR to check this item and TAB to the No button and press SPACEBAR on it.



Reset notification

If when opening DBT you are not prompted to install the scripts you can reset the notifications so it appears once more: 
  1. Press ALT+G to open the Global menu.
  2. Then use ARROW KEYS to select Notification Settings and press ENTER.
  3. Then close and restart Duxbury software so the prompt to install scripts is posted.

Scripts can be copied from this path should it be required:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Duxbury\[DBT VERSION]\JAWS
Please replace [DBT VERSION] with the version of the currently install DBT software.

Remove/reinstall DBT scripts

If for some reason you are intending to refresh installed Duxbury scripts in the user's settings folder use the steps below to remove old set first.
  1. Press WINDOWS key to open Start menu and search Utilities - JAWS [JAWS_VERSION], then press ENTER on the result.  The string [JAWS_VERSION] being a placeholder for the version of JAWS you are intending to remove or reinstall DBT scripts.
  2. Then press letter E to navigate to Explore My Settings and press ENTER.
  3. Using ARROW Keys or first letter navigation explore the folder contents for the following and delete files:

    dbtw* - (all files beginning dbtw)
    ACTWiz.jcf

  4. When done you can reset notifications in DBT and then reinstall scripts when prompted.
