JAWS - Find the folder path for a file in Explorer
Problem
You wish to be able to know the folder a file is contained in.

Step 1: Set up
- If you have a shortcut for “This PC” open this or press Windows+E to open Explorer.
- Press control+shift+6 to change to details listview.
- Then press Alt, V, A and press up arrow, then press ENTER on “Add columns”.
- Then press letter F until you get to “Folder Path” in the list and press spacebar to check it.
- Then press TAB to reach “OK” button and press spacebar.
Usage after setup
- Open the folder containing the file you wish to view the file path for.
- Then press arrows to locate the desired file.
- Then press right arrow to reach the folder path column in the list view. JAWS will then read out the location of the file in the system.
- When you are ready to return to normal announcements press left arrow to move back to the “name” column otherwise you will near folder path for any file you navigate to automatifcally.
