Firmware upgrade instructions for Braille Edge 40 display

Please use the details below to upgrade firmware on the Braille Edge 40.

  1. Download the latest available firmware using the link you are given.
  2. Extract the ZIP file. You will see a single .bin file.
  3. Copy this .bin file to the root of a SD card.
  4. Insert the SD card into the Braille EDGE 40.
  5. Hold down “F8” while pressing the “reset” button.
Note

Please do not continue to hold down the reset button, this is NOT necessary.

  1. The Braille EDGE 40 will play progress sounds to indicate that something is happening.
  2. The Braille EDGE 40 says, “Update Success” and then restarts itself after 10 seconds.

Checking firmware version

From the Main Menu, use the SPACEBAR repeatedly until you get to “Information”.
Press “ENTER” to open this screen.
Press “SPACE-DOT 4” twice. This will display the version and build you are running.
