Focus – 5th gen 40/80 Braille display controls layout

Problem

A customer needs to know the layout of controls of Focus 5th generation 40/80 displays.

Resolution

Please review the information below both Focus 40 and 80 are similar but with the addition of panning rockers on the Focus 80.

The Focus Nav rockers facilitate scrolling through documents, dialogue boxes, lists and menus. Press Mode button above each NAV rocker to change the mode you are in.

 

Panning buttons

At the extreme left and right of the front panel of Focus there are dedicated Braille panning buttons.  They will have a raised double arrow on them.  These buttons action may be reversed in JAWS Settings.

 

Rocker bars

The Rocker bars at the front allow a user to move up or down a line in a document.  Press the top to move up one line, press bottom to move down a line.

 

Selector buttons

The selector buttons are concaved shaped buttons on the front edge of the display which when used on their own control Auto-advancement of the Braille display.  When pressed with other controls perform other functions.

 

Panning Rockers (Focus 80)

These controls provided on the Focus 80 function as extra panning buttons but their movement is similar to the rocker bars.  Pressing up pans left, pressing down pans right

 

Cursor routing buttons

Above each cell on the Braille line is a cursor routing button.  Pressing a cursor routing button will move the active cursor to that position in the text being displayed.  Press Left or Right panning button with a cursor routing button to simulate a right mouse click on that area.
