Freedom Scientific product launch authorisation scenarios

Freedom Scientific product launch authorisation scenarios

Information

Below are notes on what happens when a Freedom Scientific product checks for a license.

Applies to:

  • JAWS
  • ZoomText
  • Fusion
  • Openbook

Freedom Scientific licenses and version tiering

For JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion products all licenses are tiered by version. This mean that when any product launches it will check to see if the license found is the same or greater than that of the product being run. If it is not then the product will not authorise and action will be required to fix it..

Product launches - license has been found and is correct version

The first condition that must be met when a product is launched is that the license for a product ie. JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion is present. Provided it is present and valid the product will run as normal and without limitation.

Product launches – no license is found

When the product is installed for the first time or no license is present the product launches in 40-minute demo mode and will prompt for activation using ILM Authorisation. If the product has a dongle license this must be present before the product starts for the license to be detected.

Product license - Authorisation insufficient

This condition mainly occurs where the product running is a newer version than the license supports. An error indicating that the product license is for an earlier version and the user is prompted to update their installed license. When occurs it is advisable to use ILM Authorisation Viewer or Dongle Viewer to check the current license is sufficient and the "last rel allowed" indicates it can support the running product. This condition may also occur when the product Is being run on a remote computer and is unable to detect a remote access license.
