Freedom Scientific - Tandem December update for JAWS/Fusion 2021

Freedom Scientific - Tandem December update for JAWS/Fusion 2021

Problem

Some customers using version 2021 of Freedom Scientific JAWS/Fusion may find themselves unable to use Tandem Remote facility.

Resolution

The following is a late release to update the 2021 products primarily to allow communication using the new Tandem server.

We released new updates for versions 2020 and 2021 of JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion.

The primary reason for the update was to include the updated support of Tandem that was released in our 2022 JAWS and Fusion this Fall. Any customers using 2021 or 2020, who wish to Tandem in the future with other customers using 2022 or higher, will need to install these November updates over top of those older versions.

If customers have already upgraded to 2022 and do not intend to use the older versions in the future, there is no need to go back and install these updates.

The 2021 Versions will be an auto-update, since it also includes some other fixes outlined below.

The 2020 Versions will only be discovered if you Check for Updates in the 2020 version or go to the Downloads page and retrieve the 2020 version. This update of 2020 only addresses the Tandem change.
Enhancements in JAWS 2021.2111.2 (November 2021)
The following is a list of improvements made between the July 2021 release and the November 2021 update:
• This update is required for those who use the Tandem feature if you need to establish a Tandem connection with JAWS or Fusion 2022 or higher.
• Made several improvements to Windows 11 support.
• Improved JAWS reading of text in Google Docs containing multiple proofing attributes, such as content that is highlighted and also includes a comment.
• When navigating a table in Google Docs, JAWS now announces the current row or column after reading the cell contents. Additionally, if you have turned off the announcement of table cell coordinates in Quick Settings, JAWS now only reads the cell contents as expected when using the table reading commands (ALT+CTRL+ARROW Keys).
• Addressed issues in Google Docs where JAWS was not properly indicating inserted, deleted, or commented text at the start or end of a line or a table cell.
• Addressed an issue with JAWS not reading as expected in some instances when navigating by character.
• Added a new option to toggle the announcement of text marked as a suggestion in Google Docs. To change this, open Settings Center and locate the Suggested text announcement check box.
• JAWS now properly reads the title of the current page in Chrome or Edge when using CTRL+TAB to move between open pages.
• Addressed an issue where JAWS was not indicating the start of commented text in Google Docs when navigating by word.

• Resolved an issue in Chrome and Edge where the cursor enhancement was not following the system caret when using Gmail.
• Resolved an issue where system focus would be on the Quick Access Bar instead of the Magnification tab controls when first starting ZoomText.
