FS Auth - Migrate from trial license to full product license

FS Auth - Migrate from trial license to full product license

Problem

A Freedom Scientific JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion trial user who has purchased a full license and wishes to migrate from that trial licnese to their full license.

Applies to

  1. JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion

Resolution

  1. An installed trial license is a timed license that will expire after 45 or 90 days.  It is designed to co-exist with a full license if that is installed.  Upon expiry the product may return to 40 minute demo mode or drop back to the installed full license.  If a full license is installed the trial serial number may still show until it expires and automatically switch over to the full license without further intervention.
  2. Some may feel more confortable however, removing the trial license and migrating to the new full license that is installed.  The instructions below can help with this process.

Method 1 – Remove demo product license automatically

  1. Open Start menu and search utilities and launch the found item matching your product to view content.

    Utilities – JAWS
    Utilities – ZoomText
    Utilities – Fusion

  2. In the program group double click the item Remove All Products ILM Activation.
  3. If UAC is enabled authenticate to pass the prompt.
  4. A new notice will pop up asking to confirm removal, click Yes to confirm removal of all licenses.

  5. Click the Yes in the dialogue when it appears to confirm license removal.
  6. Once removed you are free to install the full license as normal.

Method 2 – Manually remove licenses and re-activate

  1. Open the following path:

    %ProgramData%\Freedom Scientific\Licenses

  2. The folder should show the file ‘MULTIPRODUCT.CPS’, if it does not show change folder options to show hidden files and also protected operating system files.
  3. Delete the ‘MULTIPRODUCTG.CPS’ file, if you see any other CPS files delete all files.
  4. Close and re-launch the product, then choose to activate.

Idea
Tip
When activating the new full license, be sure to enter/use the ILM code for the full license and not the demo code. product code.
