FS Auth - Check dongle authorisation

Problem

A Freedom Scientific dongle product user wishes to check their dongle for information regarding the license (serial number, allowed version etc.).

Applies to

  1. JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion

Resolution

Use the steps below to query the USB dongle license information.

Using the mouse

  1. Ensure the USB dongle is plugged into a free USB port.
  2. Then click Start button, then search Utilities and select the program group for the latest version of their Freedom Scientific product:  

    Utilities – JAWS (for JAWS/Fusion products)
    Utilities – ZoomText     (for ZoomText products)
    Utilities - Fusion     (for Fusion products

  3. Double click Dongle Viewer in the new window.  The license held on the USB dongle will then be queried and a report should then appear.
  4. Make a note or copy the information shown, if this is in connection with a Technical Support enquiry please supply this information.

Using the keyboard

  1. Make sure the USB dongle is plugged into the computer system.
  2. Then press WINDOWS key to open Start menu, then search Utilities and select the group for the latest version of the Freedom Scientific product:

    Utilities – JAWS (for JAWS/Fusion products)
    Utilities – ZoomText     (for ZoomText products)
    Utilities - Fusion     (for Fusion products

  3. Press letter D in the new window to navigate to Dongle Viewer, then ENTER.  The Dongle Viewer will query the USB dongle and return a report.
  4. Make a note or copy the information shown, if this is in connection with a Technical Support enquiry please supply this information.

Shown below is output from a Fusion dongle license. 
  1. Note the Options section displaying product type and Remote Access that can be attached to the license.
  2. USB dongle may contain information for multiple Freedom Scientific products as using more than one dongle on a system is not permitted.
