Focus - Solving a Bluetooth pairing Focus V and Windows 11 22HH2

Problem

A customer using a Focus generation 5 display encounters problems pairing with a computer running Windows version 11 22H2 or higher.

Applies to

  1. Focus Braille displays

Resolution

In Windows 11 22H2 onwards Microsoft change in the way Microsoft classify Braille displays.  Users may wish to change a discovery setting in Windows to fix the problem.


Using the keyboard

  1. Press WINDOWS key to open start menu search.
  2. Then search Bluetooth and press enter on the resulting search result.
  3. Then press TAB to reach “show notification to connect using swift pair button” if the optoin is not chekced presss SPACEBAR to check the option.
  4. Then press TAB twice to reach Bluetooth devices discovery drop down box and change the setting from  Default to Advanced..
  5. Then exit the settings app and try pairing again with Focus.

Using the mouse

  1. Click Start button, then search BLuetooth and click the result.
  2. Then click to check the optoin  "Show Notification to connect using swift pair button".
  3. Then click the drop down box for Bluetooth Device Discovery, then set the option from Default to Advanced.
