JAWS – Change typing echo setting
Problem
A JAWS user wishes to change the typing echo JAWS speaks when they input text from the keyboard.
Applies to
- JAWS
Resolution
- Press JAWSKey+F2 to open the JAWS managers list.
- Use UP/DOWN arrow keys or first letter navigation to highlight Settings Centre then press ENTER.
- In Settings Centre press CONTROL+SHIFT+D to make changes to the default configuration.
- Then enter the word Typing into the search box then press DOWN ARROW to locate Typing Echo in the list.
- Then keep pressing SPACEBAR until it is on the desired typing echo option from thosse listed below:
- Characters
- Words
- Characters and Words
- When done press TAB to reach Apply button, then press SPACEBAR on it.
- Then press ENTER to dismiss the Settings Centre dialogue window.
