JAWS - Convenient OCR does not work

Problem

A customer running JAWS uses the keystroke to invoke Convenient OCR feature but this does not work. 


Applies to:

  1. JAWS
  2. Fusion

Resolution

Please check the installed version of Microsoft Office software in Apps and Features, for the convenient OCR to Word feature to operate version 2013 or 2016 and above must be installed.  Office version 2010 an below is not sufficient. 

Using the mouse

Right click Start button and choose Apps and Features.
In Apps and Features window scroll through the list or search the word Office to filter the results.
Check the installed version of Office to see if it is 2013 or later.

Using the keyboard

Press Windows key to open Start and search Apps and Features  and press ENTER to launch this result.
In the Apps and Features window TAB to the second search field to filter the list of installed applications, search using Office as keyword.
Then press TAB to reach the list of apps, you should be able to hear the version of the Microsoft Office installation which should be 2013 or later.
