JAWS - Downloads not announced when using Google Chrome

Problem

A JAWS user attempting to download using Chrome browser encounters a problem where they get no notification the downloaded has started from JAWS.

 

Resolution

This problem can result from a combination of Chrome settings that cause this problem which causes the download button not to appear and trigger JAWS to read the appropriate prompt.   Please use the steps below to correct the issue.

 


  1. Open Chrome and enter the following into the address bar and press ENTER: 

    chrome://flags2.      

  2. Then search for the following:  download bubble
  3. Choose disable for both download bubble items shown.
  4. Close and then restart Chrome browser to have the new adjustments take effect.
