JAWS - Downloads not announced when using Google Chrome

Problem

When a customer is using Google Chrome to download a file no notification of download progress is heard from JAWS.

Resolution

The problem may be that Google Chrome settings are not  what JAWS expects leading to non-announcement because the download button on the  status line does not appear.  Use the steps below to correct the issue.

1.       Open Chrome and enter the following into the address bar and press ENTER:  chrome://flags

2.       Then search for the following:  download bubble

3.       Choose disable for both download bubble items shown.

4.       Close and then restart Chrome browser to have the new adjustments take effect.
