Problem

A customer finds the way that Mozilla Thunderbird threading conversations is unhelpful, they may wish to disable this display feature.

Detail

Message threading is a feature in Thunderbird that is enabled by default to group messages together by conversation which complicates navigation of email list.  Customers new to message threading may hear the words 'collapsed' or 'expanded after the subject line of an email.  

Resolution

1. You will need Thunderbird set up to receive mail and have multiple message on the same subject to observe the effect.

1. The default setting is for threading to be Enable, therefore you can disable or enable it using these instructions.

1. Move to a folder where there is a chain of emails that are on the same subject.
   
2. Then press alt+V to open View menu.
   
3. Use arrow keys to select Sort By and press ENTER.
   
4. Then press UP ARROW until you get to the Threaded, if enabled it will announce it is checked.  To toggle this features on an off press ENTER on it to toggle the option on and off. In the list of emails when enabled there will be certain subject that will announced collapsed
   
5. Press RIGHT ARROW to expand and press down arrow to view other messages on that subjection. 
   
6. If you are on a thread that has already been expanded press left arrow to close that thread, not you only see the first message in that thread and pressing down arrow will navigate to the first message on a new thread.
