JAWS – Microsoft office ribbon accelerator keys do not always work
Problem
A JAWS customer using Microsoft Office applications find
that sometimes when they use the Microsoft Office ribbon accelerator keystrokes,
they do not always work or function as expected.

Resolution
- The Microsoft Office ribbon accelerator keys may not work
as intended if the ribbon is set to automatically hide the lower ribbon
menu.
- Ensuring the ribbon is set to always show the lower
ribbon may help resolve the problem, this can be done by using one of the method shown below.
Method 1: Using
hotkey
1. Press
ALT+TAB to focus on a Microsoft Office application.
2. Then
press CONTROL+F1 to toggle the ribbon view on or offi.
Method 2: Using UI
navigation
1. Press
ALT to open the ribbon menu on Home option.
2. Press
LEFT ARROW to navigate to File item.
3. Then
press SHIFT+TAB to navigate back to Ribbon Display Options sub menu.
4. Then
press SPACEBAR on Ribbon display options submenu.
5. Press
DOWN ARROW to Always Show Ribbon and press ENTER on it. The ribbon will then always show regardless
of whether focus is on it.
