Problem
A customer needs to use Outlook Calendar but does not
know how.
Resolution
Please review the below steps to access the Outlook Calendar and create a simple event with attendees.
Moving to/from Outlook Calendar
Microsoft Outlook has Email, Calendar and Contacts
sections to it you can use the following shortcuts to navigate freely between these areas of Microsoft Outlook:
Control+1 – Email
Control+2 – Calendar
Control+3 – Contacts
Calendar View
- JAWS works best in Calendar Month view you can use the
hotkey ALT, V, T = to switch to month view. Other view hotkeys:
ALT, V, R - Day view
ALT, V, K - Week
ALT, V, W1 - Work week
- When in this view you are in a date grid for the current
month so you can press UP/DOWN ARROW to move between weeks or LEFT/RIGHT ARROW. If a day has entries available JAWS will read
them, press ENTER to open the entry to explore more information or respond.
Creating a meeting
1. Press
CONTROL+2 to open Outlook Calendar.
2. Press
CONTROL+N to create a new event.
3. Then
type to give the meeting a subject title.
4. To
create a normal event press ALT followed by H, then letter I then fields for
attendees will appear. Fill those out
pressing TAB between them.
5. Press
ALT+U to access search/add required attendees or ALT+P for optional attendees
search/add via dialogue.
6. Then
press TAB to get to controls to set the start date/time to start meeting.
Tip
If the start/end time fields are inaccessible press ALT+Y to uncheck the “All
day” checkbox in the form.
7. Then
press TAB to go through controls to set meeting date/time end.
8. Press
TAB to reach location edit and add anything there required.
9. Then
press TAB to add any body text to your invitation.
10. When ready
to send press ALT+S or press ALT+F and down arrow and press ENTER on Save, then
you can close the window.
