PictureSmart overview
PictureSmart was introduced to JAWS in 2019 allows the user to get an unbiased
description of an image they have access to.
PictureSmart layered keystrokes
The system uses JAWS Layered Hotkey JAWSKey+Spacebar
followed by P for PictureSmart, then followed by another letter for a specific
PictureSmart action. Note that the using
an uppercase letter for an action instead of lower case will access an AI
assisted function.

PictureSmart AI
In a Recent updates in JAWS/Fusion 2024 March update
(build 2402) AI assisted PictureSmart have been made available via the Early
Adopter program. To access the AI assisted versions of PictureSmart features it
is necessary to enable it in the Early Adopter Program dialogue.
Enable PictureSmart AI
- Open JAWS window > Early adopter Program and check the
option for PictureSmart with generative AI and press ENTER.
- Then use the keystroke JAWSKrey+SPACEBAR followed by F4
to restart JAWS for the changes to be made.
- Once PictureSmart AI is enabled the existing PIctureSmart
hotkeys will be assisted by AI teatures.
Using upper case letters for more detailed description
By default when using the existing shortcuts results are
only returned from one engine, however it is possible to pull information from
both engines at the same time using a shifted letter at the end of the command
sequence. When a capital letter is used
at the end of the command sequence JAWS returns results from both engines to
examine. This may be helpful in
instances where one engine seems to return erroneous results.
