JAWS - Set auto startup manually

Problem

A JAWS user needs to set JAWS to start up automatically when Windows boots on their PC.

Resolution

  1. Press JAWSKey+J or ALT+TAB to navigate to the JAWS window.
  2. Then press ALT+O for Options and press ENTER or RIGHT ARROW to access the sub menu.
  3. Then press UP/DOWN ARROW keys to locate Basics then press ENTER.
  4. In JAWS basics dialogue press TAB to reach the Automatically Start JAWS
    button and press SPACEBR to open it. 
  5. If your systems asks for a password when starting press SPACEBAR on the option Start JAWS At The Logon Screen.  If in any doubt check this option then press TAB.
  6. If more than one JAWS user logs into the PC press SPACEBAR on the option to Start JAWS for All Users  otherwise press TAB to leaver this setting unchanged.
  7. Then press ALT+DOWN ARROW to open the drop down list Start JAWS After Logon For This User and press UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select Always option.
  8. Then TAB to reach OK button and press SPACEBAR.

If User Account Control dialogue opens select the Yes button option if available. on some systems it may prompt for administrative credentials to be provided in order to proceed.  If credentials are required please contact local IT staff for assistance.
