JAWS – Startup wizard navigation (new JAWS user)

Problem

A new JAWS user needs to navigate though the options presented in the Start Up wizard to make settings changes for their needs.

Applies to

  1. JAWS
  2. Fusion

Detail

the goal of this guide is to help new users may key changes to how JAWS operates, most particularly the start up behaviour for the next and subsequent times the computer is started.  Users should not be unduly concerned about making other changes if they are unsure, the defaults will generally work for most new users and the wizard and settings may be revisited and changed at any time.

Resolution

The Start Up wizard will normally open when JAWS is first launched after successful authorisation.  Users may navigate its screens to set important JAWS settings.  Users can press escape to leave the wizard at any time should they not wish to change any settings.  However especially for new users it is worth making sure that JAWS is set to run automatically the next time the PC is started to maintain their access to the computer system.
