JAWS – Unable to navigate list view
Problem
A JAWS user encounters a problem with an application that has a listview that is no longer spoken in response to pressing arrow keys.
Resolution
This can happen in applications that use a listview to dispaly object s such as File Explorer or Microsoft Outlook where the window has become too small to properly display the list items. When this happens JAWS can find it hard to properly track the list and therefore may not speak the items in that list properly or even speak at all. The problem can be fixed by maximising the window to fill the whole screen which should usually resolve the problem. Please see detailed steps below:
- Press ALT+SPACEBAR tas a chord to open the window menu for the application.
- The press UP/DOWN arrow keys to locate Maximise, then
press ENTER or just press letter X on the keyboard.
- Then test using the UP/DOWN ARROW keys to check the problem has been resolved. In case of further difficulty please call Sight & Sound technical support.
