JAWS – Unable to navigate Microsoft Outlook message list

Problem

A JAWS user finds that they are no longer able to navigate and get feedback from the Microsoft Outlook message list when pressing UP/DOWN ARROW keys.

Resolution

The most likely cause for the loss of speech in the message list view is the size of the main application window has become too small to accommodate display of the message listview highlight bar.  To fix the press use the steps below:

  1. Press ALT+SPACEBAR to open the system menu.
  2. The press UP/DOWN arrow keys to locate Maximise, then press ENTER.  The message list should then respond as when pressing UP/DOWN ARROW keys.
