JAWS - Using AI Labeller for Poorly Labelled Elements
Problem
You encounter a problem with JAWS when running an application that does not speak well because the controls in the interface are poorly labelled.

Resolution
This feature is currently in development but is available through the Early Adopter Programme mechanism for customers to try out. The feature will be made available in final form once development and testing is completed in a future update of JAWS.
IMPORTANT
If this feature appears not to work it may not be a bug, in some businesses and high security environments policies in force at the site may block the use of external AI services being used.
Enable feature AI labeller
- Open JAWS window by pressing JAWSKey+J or CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+J if using laptop configuration.
- Open Options menu, then choose Early Adopter Program and press ENTER.
- Then press TAB to navigate Select AI Based UI Labeler, if the option is unchecked press SPACEBAR to check the item.
- Then press TAB to reach OK and press SPACEBAR, JAWS will then restart itself to enable the feature.
Using AI labeller feature
- When using an inaccessible application, focus on the element that does not speak eg. a button.
- Then press JAWSKey+G, to run the graphicsl labeller. After analysing the control JAWS speaks a suggested graphics label. Currently, JAWS speaks the suggested label, type, and if available, the state of the element.
