JAWS – Respond to Windows notification to run routine scan
Problem
A JAWS user is prompted by Windows to run a Microsoft Defender scan with but doesn't know how to respond to the prompt.

Resolution
Use one of the methods below to conduct a Defender scan
on a PC.
Method 1 – Respond with simulated mouse click
- When the notification is heard press the number pad slash
key, this simulates a left click with the mouse and should let you respond to
the prompt.
- When the main window opens and Quick Scan button is heard
press SPACEBAR on it to start the scan.
Method 2 – Run scan manually
- Press Windows key and then search the word Virus.
- When Virus and Threat Protection result is returned press
ENTER to open it.
- Then on the next screen press SPACEBAR on the Quick Scan
button.
