K1000 Typing echo speech cut off at beginning/ends

Problem

When typing text where character echo is or where it is set to word echo, the beginning or ends of speech output are turncated.

Resolution

  1. In K1000 open the Settings menu and choose Voices.
  2. In the dialogue check that both the reading and message voices are working by clicking the Role drop down and then clicking the Test button further down the dialogue.
  3. Then create a new document using CONTROL+N and have the user type some text and listen to the result. If the speech is clipped go to the next step.
  4. Open Control Panel and open the Sound applet, if you don’t see it click the View By drop down and choose either Small or Large icons.
  5. In the Sound applet double click the main soundcard, then click the Enhancements tab and uncheck any active enhancements.
  6. Click the Spatial Audio and click the drop down and set it to Off position.
  7. If there are any other known locations sound Enhancements may be controlled, visit those and disable them.
  8. Return to K1000 and see if the typing echo has improved. If the issue is not solved it is suggestion one try updating the onboard sound drivers. Another potential resolution may be to remove and reinstall the speech engines or K1000 software.
