Laptop and Desktops – Locating downloads


Problem

You need to find driver/BIOS update or other software for a laptop.


 

Resolution

Most manufacturers will either have a support site or additionally an app to update relevant downloads.  See below list by manufacturer.

 

Apple (Mac)

  1. Most updates handled via Check for Update built into Mac OS
  2. Additionally one may visit:  https://support.apple.com/downloads


Acer       

  1. Visit manufacturer site and pick laptop model to see support and downloads:
    https://www.acer.com/gb-en/laptops
 

Asus

  1. Visit manufacturer site and download by model;: 
    https://www.asus.com/uk/support/


Dell

  1. Visit manufacturer site and download by service tag: 
    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us


Fujitsu


Honor

  1. Visit manufacrturer website:  
    https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/driver-list/

  1. An app is available to download:

HP

  1. Visit manufacturer sight and search by serial number:  
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers
  2. Alternatively download the HP Support Assistant app, to manage software updates.

Lenovo

  1. Lenovo use a number of different apps, Depending on model search the start menu for for are Lenovo System update and Lenovo Vantage.
  2. Alternatively you may also visit the site https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/  with your serial number to gain access to the downloads.


Medion

  1. Visit manufacturer website and search by serial number:

  1. Medion also have an app at:

Microsoft

  1. Visit Microsoft site:

  1. Microsoft recommend using the Surface app from Microsoft Store to update their device drivers and firmware.
