Laptop and Desktops – Locating downloads


Problem

You need to find driver or BIOS update downloads for a given laptop or desktop.

 

Resolution

Most manufacturers will either have a support site or additionally an app to update relevant downloads.  See below list by manufacturer.

 

Apple (Mac)

  1. Visit support:  https://support.apple.com/downloads
  1. Most updates handled via Check for Update built into Mac OS


Acer       

  1. Visit manufacturer site and pick laptop model to see support and downloads:
    https://www.acer.com/gb-en/laptops
 

Asus

  1. Visit manufacturer site and download by model;: 
    https://www.asus.com/uk/support/


Dell

  1. Visit manufacturer site and download by service tag: 
    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us


Fujitsu


Honor

  1. Visit manufacrturer website:  
    https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/driver-list/

  1. An app is available to download: 
    https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/pc-manager/ 

 

HP

  1. Visit manufacturer sight and search by serial number:  
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers
  2. HP also have an app HP Support Assistant from Microsoft Store to update laptop automatically. 

Lenovo

  1. Lenovo use a number of different apps, Depending on model two to look for are Lenovo System update and Lenovo Vantage.
  2. You can also go to their downloads page and using serial number look up downloads for the specific model:  https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/ 


Medion

  1. Visit manufacturer website and search by serial number: 
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers
  1. Medion also have an app at:
    www.medionservice.com


Microsoft

  1. Visit Microsoft site:

  1. Microsoft recommend using the Surface app from Microsoft Store to update their device drivers and firmware.
