JAWS - Make a documents folder shortcut for the windows desktop

Problem

You wish to create s shortcut to Documents folder on the desktop. 


Resolution

  1. Press WINDOWS+D to move to desktop and then use first letter navigation or arrow keys to locate "This PC" and press ENTER.
  2. Use first letter navigation or arrow keys to locate the "Documents" folder.
  3. Press CONTROL+C to copy to clipboard.
  4. Then press WINDOWS+D to go back to desktop.
  5. Press CONTROL+SPACEBAR to deselect any desktop icon.
  6. Then press shift+F10 for context menu.
  7. Down arrow to "Paste shortcut" and press ENTER on it.

Method 2: Using the mouse

Double click “This PC” on the desktop.
Right click “Documents” and choose “copy” in the context menu.
Go back to the desktop and right click any empty area then select “Paste shortcut” from the context menu.
Tip: You can right click and then drag to desktop and then on relaasing the right mouse button choose “Create shortcut here” and the icon will be created on the desktop.

Note

It is possible to apply this for any other folder on the system to be made available on the desktop by coyping the desired folder and creating its shortcut on the desktop.
