JAWS - Numbers spoken as hundreds and thousands is confusing

Problem

A JAWS user finds JAWS default number processing speaking hundreds and thousands confusion and would wish to change this.

Resolution

One can change the number processing by JAWS to speak single digits where each digit in a large number is announced separately using the stps below:

  1. Press JAWSKey+F2 and select Settings Centre.
  2. Then press CONTROL+SHIFT+D to modify the default configuration.
  3. Then type the word “number” into the search and down arrow to “number processing.
  4. Press SPACEBAR to toggle the setting to “Single digits”.
  5. Press TAB to reach the “Apply” button and press SPACEBAR followed by ENTER.
