JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion - Manually downloading additional voices

Problem

You are not able to use the add/remove voices dialogue to install voices because of restricted internet connection. 

Application

This document may be most useful to computer Technicians and Administrators who need to add additional voices to JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion where the Add/Remove Voices feature is unable to negotiate restrictions in place on a managed connection.

Resolution

  1. Visit this page: https://support.freedomscientific.com/Downloads/Synthesizers
  2. Then on the drop down select the desired speech engine (For the current JAWS Vocalizer Expressive 2).
  3. Then tab to the language drop down and select the English variant or other language required:

English dialect voices
• English Australian
• English British
• English Indian
• English Irish
• English Scottish
• English South African
• English United States

  1. Then navigate to the button for "Premium High" and activate it for the speaker you wish to download.
  2. Then once downloaded run the installers to install the voices.
  3. After installing the voices you will need to restart JAWS so they become available.
