A customer may experience a problem activating the MathType software where a message stating a license is expired when it is known that it has not actually expired yet.
Other than a genuine expire license this scenario may occur due to communication difficulties or corrupted registry data causing activation to fail.
• Please use the steps below to clean the registry of old data to correct the problem and try again.
• Then use the steps to check firewalling and proxy server considerations.
• Contact WIRIS with details, they may need to create a new serial to fix the problem.
For computers in manged environment check if a proxy server is being used.
On Windows
Additionally, please check if you can connect to the following link https://www.wiris.net/license/validate.
Below is a picture showing the expected response of the link in the web browser. If it does not return the expected (shown below), please tell us.
If you determine your connection uses a proxy, please contact your internet or proxy provider to know how to whitelist www.wiris.net. If it's determined that the firewall is causing the issue, please do the same for it.
If it is not possible to connect through the given Internet connection, there are other possible workarounds:
• Disable the firewall/filters temporarily to update the licenses.
• Ask Wiris support to create a new product key with an updated expiration date.
