Medincle - The installer error 'package cannot be checked for malicious software'

Problem

When running the installer for Medincle produces you may see a message stating that the package cannot be checked for malicious software and it needs to be updated.

Detail

This problem occurs with an app being opened is has not been signed by a developer. In this case the Gatekeeper system in the operating system will block the app from running.


Resolution

The Gatekeeper production system can be disabled provided you are sure that the app is genuine and is not malicious.


Method 1

  1. In Finder go to the location where the installer for Medicle is eg. "Downloads" folder
  2. Hold down the control key and whilst it is held click the installer file.
  3. The installer should launch as normal immediately.

Method 2

  1. In Finder open the Medincle installer in the location as above. The error message will be posted, click “OK” button.
  2. Then immediately click Apple symbol > System Preferences > Security & Privacy:
