Microsoft – Links in emails do not open up in Windows default browser

Problem

When using Outlook and clicking a link within an email Microsoft Edge opens instead of the Windows default browser selection.

Resolution

Microsoft Outlook has a setting that needs to be adjusted to fix the problem.

1.    In Outlook open File > Options > Advanced.

2.    When in Advanced category click to check the option “Open supported hyperlinks to Office files in desktop apps” and then click the drop down just below and select “Default Browser”.

3.    Then click OK button to save changes.
