Microsoft – Workaround to send message to contact from Microsoft Outlook Address Book search

Problem

A JAWS customer has lost access to the auto-fill drop down list in New Message window.

Resolution

  1. Where possible the customer is best advised to update their Microsoft Office to the latest version (ideally 365 because it is update most often).
  2. If updating is not possible the customer may try one of the workarounds below.

Method 1 - From New Message window

  1. Send email using Address Book
  2. Pres CONTROL+N to create a new message.
  3. Then press ALT+T to open address book.
  4. Type a name to search and press ENTER.
  5. Use arrows to select contact and press ENTER to add it to the To: edit box.
  6. Then press ENTER again and  you are returned to the message with contact filled in.

Method 2 – From Address Book Contact Card

  1. Press control+3 to open the Address Book list.
  2. Using arrow keys browse to find the contact and press ENTER to open the contact card.
  3. Then press ALT, H, E accelerator keys to activate Email ribbon button.  A new window pops up with the select contact added in the To: edit box.
