Microsoft – Setting auto replies for out of office (JAWS)

Problem

You need to Outlook set automatic replies using a screen reader such as JAWS.

  1. Microsoft Outlook

Resolution

  1. In Outlook press ALT+F for File menu.
  2. Then press TAB until you reach Automatic Replies button and press SPACEBAR on it.
  3. In the Automatic replies window press down arrow on the radio button to select Send Automatic Replies.
  4. Press TAB key to reach the increase Indent button, then press TAB one more time to reach the edit box for Auto replies within organisation.
  5. Write any text you wish to be sent in your absence within the organisation.
  6. If you wish to send the same information to those outside your organisation press control+A followed by CONTROL+C.
  7. Then press TAB to reach Inside My Organisation tab, then press right arrow to reach Outside My Organisation tab.
  8. Then press SHIFT+TAB to reach th edit box for auto replies text.
  9. Press CONTROL+V top paste in the text from the within organisation text or write your own.
  10. Press TAB to reach Only Send During This Time Region, if you wish to specify the range of time for which automatic replies are sent press SPACEBAR  on it, if you leave unchecked you will have auto replies set indefinitely until you turn it off again.
  11. Press TAB through the controls for Start Date, then TAB to date picker button and press SPACEBAR on it.
  12. Use arrow keys to select the start date and press TAB.
  13. Then press ALT+DOWN arrow to change Start time.
  14. Press TAB and do likewise to set End Time as well.
  15. This completes all adjustments TAB to OK button then press SPACEBAR, automatic replies are enabled.
