MB Tutor – Check firmware version

Problem

A user wishes to check for and update Mountbatten Brailler Tutor firmware.


Applies to

  1. Mountbatten Brailler Tutor (MBT)

Resolution

The Mountbatten runs on internal software which is periodically updated. It is a common troubleshooting step to check what version is running and check if an update is available.


Check MBT firmware version

  1. Press Command inside the cursor key cluster key to the menu system.
  2. Then select More Options > System > Device information.

Update MBT firmware

  1. Download latest firmware that has been provided
  2. Unzip the firmware ZIP file by right click and choose Extract All in the menu.
  3. Copy the the MBUPDATE.TUT folder and its contents in the root folder of a Pen drive (USB thumb memory)
  4. Then connect so prepared USB drive to the right-hand USB socket on the MBTutor
  5. While the USB drive is placed in the socket (when MB Tutor is on), you will hear a message "USB memory connected” spoken.
  6. Then press menu and navigate to System -> Update device
  7. after an additional prompt, the update process will start automatically.
