Microsoft - No video or sound in Zoom meeting app

Problem

There is no output from the webcam or sound being heard by participants in the Zoom or similar  meeting app.

Resolution

Each application on Windows must have permission to use the camera in Windows, without permission video may be blocked.  Use the steps below to help resolve the problem.

  1. Open the Zoom meeting app and sign in if you are not already signed in.
  2. Then click the profile button for your account in the top right of the window, then choose Settings.
  3. In the Settings dialogue on the left side click Video.
  4. On the right side click the drop down for Camera and select your camera device. If nothing shows when you select it make sure the camera is enabled either using special keys on the laptop keyboard or physical switch to enable it.
  5. In the Settings dialogue choose Audio in the category list on the left side.
  6. On the right near the top select the Speaker device you wish to listen on.
  7. On the right below for Microphone select the device you are using as microphone.
  8. Then click

If the above steps do not resolve the problem check if there is a physical switch thay may be preventing the camra from feeding video
